The University of Virginia Biocomplexity Institute embraces interdisciplinary research to solve some of the world’s most complex problems. Our teams leverage expertise from diverse domains, including computational epidemiology, computer science, statistics, mathematics, healthcare, economics, and public policy, among others. Our History
Our dedicated and award-winning scientists have been searching for answers to life’s mysteries and society's most urgent problems for more than two decades at some of the world’s leading research institutes. We continued that quest at the University of Virginia in 2018, when we joined the University, and share its vision for great achievement to do good in the world.
Responding to COVID-19
The Institute has been front and center of COVID-19 pandemic response since early January 2020. Our Covid-19 Response Team supports local, state and federal leaders by developing actionable epidemiological models that inform decision makers as they guide the public.
